He Says – The Beat of My Drum

Hi Folks:

In the beginning post for this week’s ‘He Says, She Says…‘ topic we’ve included a quote from Abraham-Hicks about ‘Beating the Drum’.  I must admit I’ve found it difficult to get started on this topic, and if you’ve seen our photograph on the ‘About’ Us‘ page, you’ll know that I’m one who tends to follow my own path.

Essentially what Abraham is asking is, “Do I need to get the rest of the world to follow my path in order for me to be happy?  Does everyone have to agree with me?”  The answer of course, is no.  Even if we wanted things to be that way, it would be impossible.  And we don’t really want things to be that way, as tempting as it may seem.  As William Wrigley Jr. said, “When two men in business always agree, one of them is unnecessary.” When two people in life always agree, one of them is unnecessary.  Diversity is what makes us who we are.

The other side of this  is that as soon as we create an ‘us’ we create a ‘them’, and ‘them’ are all those who aren’t ‘us’.  It’s always amazed me that most of the world’s bloodiest wars have been fought in the name of religion – usually religions that profess love, peace and understanding.  What is it that we’re all fighting against?  Those who are ‘different’ in some way.

We each have one thing that no one else in history has had or will ever have, and that is our ‘story’.  No one else has ever had my (or your) hopes, dreams, ideas, thoughts, feelings, perspectives, desires, or memories.  No one else ever will.  It makes us each unique.  If you look up unique in the dictionary it means, ‘one of a kind, no basis for comparison’.  In the entire universe there will ever only be one ‘you’ and that’s something that’s worth celebrating.  That makes us each special.  Seth said:

“… You are a multidimensional personality. Trust in the miracle of your own being. Make no divisions between the physical and spiritual in your lifetimes, for the spiritual speaks with a physical voice and the corporeal body is the creation of the spirit.

“Do not place the words of gurus, ministers, priests, scientists, psychologists, friends – or my words – higher than the feeling of your own being. You can learn much from others, but the deepest knowledge must come from within yourself. Your own consciousness is embarked upon a reality that basically can be experienced by no other, that is unique and untranslatable, with its own meaning following its own paths of becoming.

“You share an existence with others who are experiencing their own journeys in their own ways, and you have journeying in common, then. Be kind to yourself and your companions.” ~ The Nature of Personal Reality, session 677.

I’ve been studying metaphysical ways, different religious paths and spiritual understandings for over 35 years now.  You can read a little more about my journey in the story I wrote called, ‘The God of Mike‘.  That I’ve been walking this path for a long time isn’t important, but in that time I’ve looked at a LOT of different Ways of Being, from quantum mechanics to Christianity, from metaphysics and parapsychology to Native Ways of Being to Buddhism, Taoism and others.  The one thing I’ve always found is that each Way of Being is essentially saying the same thing, only in different words.  It’s as if each religion, each Way is one verse of a much longer song.  As Seth said:

“The dreamstate, however, does operate as a rich web of communication between probable selves and probable existences.

“The truths are written in the pupils of your eyes and the cells of your being and in your own vitality and joy. The truth is not in any book. It is in your living being and the vitality of your own breath. If, after many years I can convince you of that truth, if you will forgive the term, then will you understand how the universe is always created, how it expands constantly from your own thought, and how you are the fountain of truth after which you search with such diligence.” ~ Speaking of Jane Roberts, March 12, 1974.

Hmmm… the short answer (is it too late to go for the short answer?) is, celebrate who you are.  Honour yourself, and in honouring yourself, give others the opportunity to honour themselves too.  Find joy in your existence, in the million, million, million decisions that have brought you here to this moment, to this NOW.  Honour our diversity, what makes us each unique and special.  As Thoreau said:

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.”

Okay, that’s it for now.  Remember to be who you are – a fully aware, strong, powerful, multidimensional spiritual being.

Love,
Mike.

I’m going to leave the last word to Abraham:

“Be easy about it. Don’t rush into things. Savor them more. Make more plans and be more deliberate and specific about the plans you are making, and in all you do, let your dominant intent be to find that which pleasures you as you imagine it. Let your desire for pleasure and your desire for feeling good be your only guiding light. As you seek those thoughts that feel good, you will always be in vibrational harmony with the Energy that is your Source. And under those conditions, only good can come to you – and only good can come from you.”
